“师造化”是学习中国画的必由途径,但面对自然,“师法造化”的具体手段一写生,却有“中国式写生”和“西方式写生”的观念与实践的区别。“中国式写生”是相对20世纪初中期中国画坛一些借助西方写生方法和观念的写生实践而言的,其特点主要表现在坚持民族文化、心理与审美习惯以及对“自然”的认识和理解上。本文试从“外师造化,中得心源”之认识与理解、“远取其势,近取其质”之动态式写生、“造化在手,取舍由心”之自由式写生三个方面对山水画的“中国式写生”作一概述。
