制动失灵是行车中最危险的情况之一。什么样的情况认定为制动失灵呢?液压制动车辆(一艘为轿车)若连续踩几脚制动而没有制动效果;气压制动车辆(一般为大货车)若踏下踏板后无效果,抬起时又没有排气声,都认为是制动失灵。如果行车中发生这种状况,司机一定不能紧张,冷静对待。首先要把稳方向盘,迅速拉紧手制动,而后应及时将档位从高速档脱开而抢挂低速档。若是无级变速率,应及时抢挂1档档位上,迅速打开危险警告灯和前大灯,持续鸣号示警。若在下坡中而又无法控制车速时,应果断地利用天然障碍物,将车擦靠路边的岩石、大树、路坝等,使车速降下来,最终停车。
