2000年11月6日至9日,中国航空学会航空知识编委会六届一次扩大会议在广东省江门市五邑大学举行。这次会议是在世纪之交,为了总结《航空知识》《航空模型》两刊的办刊经验,探讨在新千年如何进一步办好航空科普杂志而召开的。来自我国航空、航天有关部门和有关单位的专家、学者、教授、编辑共30余人出席了会议。中国科学院资深院士、航空知识编委会名誉主任沈元教授发来贺信,信中说:
From November 6 to November 9, 2000, the first meeting of the sixth edition of the aviation knowledge editorial board of the Chinese Society of Aeronautics was held at Wuyi University in Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province. This meeting was held at the turn of the century in order to summarize the running experience of the two aviation magazine Aviation Models and how to further develop aviation science magazines in the new millennium. More than 30 experts, scholars, professors and editors from China’s aviation and aerospace departments and relevant organizations attended the conference. Senior member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Air Knowledge Board Honorary Director Professor Shen Yuan sent a letter of congratulation, the letter said:
