The measurement of lichen is a dating method proposed and developed gradually in the 1950s and has been applied to the dating of geological events such as glacier landforms, ancient landslides and paleoearthquakes, especially in the areas of large erosion rate and difficult sediment Preserved areas have unique advantages. Although the lichen dating is still not perfect, there are some problems in the concrete application, and scholars at home and abroad have also controverted this method. However, with the deepening of the research and the solution of related problems, it has a wide range of geological events dating from the Holocene Application prospects. In this paper, the history and existing problems of lichen dating are summarized, and the future development of lichen dating is prospected.
