After World War II, the United States strongly promoted the free trade policy. Against this background, the trade adjustment assistance legislation was formally introduced into the U.S. Trade Law in 1962. The remedies and functions of the legislation are all very different from those traditionally focused on curbing imports Relief measures, which have innovated the U.S. trade remedy system, provided effective adjustment and relief to workers and enterprises adversely affected by free trade, and played a significant role in promoting the development of the domestic economy and foreign trade in the United States.
