一九九三年冬天,我在清华大学遇到何兆武先生。他告诉我他新编好一部论文集,请在美国的王浩先生作了序,要我写一篇跋。王浩先生的序《从昆明到纽约》,那年五月已在《读书》上发表,我读后觉得殊为感人。何先生叫我作跋,自然值得欣幸,当下便答应了。没想到第二年春季,我由香港回来,偶患末疾,手术后卧床不能动转,竟未能赶上何先生论文集的出版。这成为我几年来内心歉疚的憾事。 何兆武先生的这部论文集,题为《历史理性批判散论》,一九九四年五月由湖南教育出版社印行。集内共收论文十九篇,都是研究西方历史学以及中西文化关系的。随后,何先生又应香港牛津大学出版
In the winter of 1993, I met Mr. He Zhaowu at Tsinghua University. He told me that he prepared a good new essay. Please make a preface to Mr. Wang Hao in the United States and ask me to write a preface. Mr. Wang Hao’s preface, “From Kunming to New York”, was published in Reading in May of that year and I felt very touching after reading. He told me to write Postscript naturally worth the delight, the moment they agreed. I did not expect the second year spring, I came back from Hong Kong, even suffering from the end disease, bed rest after surgery can not actually catch up with the publication of Mr Ho’s proceedings. This has become my heart regretful thing in recent years. This essay by Mr. He Zhaowu, entitled “On the theory of critical criticism of history,” in May 1994 by the Hunan Education Press. Nineteen articles have been collected in the collection, all of which are for the study of Western historiography and the relations between Chinese and Western cultures. Subsequently, Mr. Ho should be published by the University of Oxford, Hong Kong
