黄世仲的《宦海升沉录》主要反映袁世凯的前半生情状。小说以袁世凯为中心人物,贯穿起了晚清十余年的风云变幻,并旁及许多政治人物。小说较为尊重史实,以白描手法比较客观地展现了历史事件与人物的原貌。艺术创作态度严谨,远超一般社会小说之上。但由于未及进行时间、艺术上的沉淀、积累,属于进行革命宣传的急就章之作,在很多方面留有缺憾,实际上是一部未完成之作。
Huang Shizhong’s “Huan Ho Sheng Shen Lu” mainly reflects Yuan Shikai’s first half of the situation. Yuan Shikai as the central figure in the novel, runs through the late Qing more than ten years of changing circumstances, and many political figures next to. The novel relatively respects the historical facts, and objectively shows the original appearance of historical events and figures by using white sketch techniques. Artistic creation rigorous attitude, far above the general social novel. However, due to lack of time, precipitation and accumulation in art, it is an urgent task for carrying out revolutionary propaganda. It lacks in many aspects and is actually an outstanding accomplishment.
