“It is hard to get a thousand troops and one will be hard to come by,” and outstanding general Su Yu took a special place in Mao’s mind because of many famous victories. In the war years, Su Yu made his own opinions and suggestions to Mao Zedong and was always affirmed and agreed by Mao Zedong. Mao Zedong made a very high evaluation of Su Yu. In particular, Su Yu evaluated the highest meritorious deeds in the Huai-Hai Campaign. This article also describes some of the past events after the founding of New China by Mao Zedong and Su Yu.
