In an independent experimental model, the effects of selenium, zinc, potassium, and copper on angiogenesis or canceration were compared. It was reported that selenium (Na_2SeO_2) and potassium and zinc chlorides (excluding copper) in the cheek pouch of Syrian rats Intratumoral implantation of melanoma-free (A-Mel-4 B32) induced inhibition of angiogenesis. In the early studies, A-Mel-4 B32 was implanted into the control cavity and a new vasculature, i.e., blood vessel production, was observed 4 days later. Simultaneously with the implantation of tumors, 5, 10 and 50 μg of selenium were added, causing early capillary hyperplasia to be delayed to 7, 9 and 10 respectively.
