近日,我寻觅到一张老明信片,背景是日本统治时期的老发电厂(今造船厂中心变电所),一根高高的烟囱立在后面,便猜想或许它就是老大连的第一高。大连城市建设临摹自时尚之都巴黎,起点很高。而巴黎拥有世界上最早的火力发电厂,1875年建在巴黎北火车站。俄国人素来仰慕巴黎的一切,城市规划也向巴黎看齐,规划达里尼(大连)时自然要建造一个与之相媲美的发电站。1900年,萨哈罗夫带着一群留着大胡子的规划师设计了一个800马力电力的达里尼中央发电所。他们倒是很麻利,1901年8月便完成了80%的工程,但是发电所的大烟囱却迟迟没有动工。
