Secondary peristalsis is induced by the expansion of the esophagus and plays the role of removing esophageal acid after reflux. The purpose of this study was to investigate the secondary peristalsis and its characteristics in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease and to investigate the effects of different stimuli on motor responses. Methods A total of 22 patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease were enrolled in this study. The median age was 57 years. Among them, 8 women had reflux symptoms. Eighteen patients had erosive esophagitis by endoscopy and 5 patients with pH <4 Time> 5%. Twenty healthy subjects (8 female) were matched as controls. With each side hole 3cm apart
