BACKGROUND: Studies on the relationship between hypertension and nitric oxide are mainly single-time controlled studies. However, there is little research on how nitric oxide changes with the change of blood pressure. Objective: To observe the changes of plasma nitric oxide concentration in spontaneoulyhypertensive rats (SHR) and to explore the relationship between nitric oxide and the development of hypertension and to provide a theoretical basis for judging the prognosis of hypertension. Design: Non-randomized controlled experimental study. Location, Materials and Interventions: The experiment was performed at Guangzhou Jinan University. A total of 30 SHRs, 6 females, 9 males (hypertension group), 30 WKY rats, 7 females and 8 males (control group) were selected. The rats were respectively fed for 3, 6, and 12 months. Blood pressure was measured and the content of nitric oxide in the plasma was measured by silver nitrate reduction method. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: To observe the changes of plasma nitric oxide concentration in spontaneously hypertensive rats with the continuous development of hypertension. Results: ① The changes of blood pressure: There was no significant difference in the blood pressure between the control group and the control group (135.0 ± 9.8) ~ (147.8 ± 11.3) mmHg at each stage. The blood pressure in the hypertension group increased gradually with age (197.3 ± 7.5) mmHg in each month, which were significantly higher than those in the control group at each time point (t = 4.132-7.921, P <0.01). (2) The changes of plasma nitric oxide concentration: There was no significant difference in plasma nitric oxide concentration in the control group at various time points (P> 0.05), and maintained at the level of (11.5 ± 3.9) ~ (14.4 ± 3.4) μmol / Plasma nitric oxide levels in hypertensive rats at 3 and 6 months were (16.6 ± 4.5) and (18.5 ± 4.2) μmol / L, respectively, which were significantly higher than those in control rats, but significantly higher at 12 months Rats in group B (9.3 ± 3.6) μmol /
