目前,隧道施工方法主要有钻爆法和综合机械化掘进法(简称“综掘法”)。机械化施工具有效率高、作业环境好和安全性高等特点,是会后隧道施工的必然趋势。掘进机皇综掘法的主要设备,是一种集切割吉石、装载、转运石碴、降尘等多种功能于一体的大型高效联合作业机械,具有连续掘进、无爆破震动、对围岂振动小、减少超挖、节约衬砌材料等优点。掘进机又分为全断面和部分断面掘进机。在大断面、长距离硬岂隧道的掘进中,全断面掘进机(TBM)发挥了重要作用。例如,世界著名的英吉利海峡海底隧道就是用11台全断面掘进机完成的;我国“西康”铁蹈中的奏岭隧道即采用两台德国产TB880E全断面掘进机施工,单台平均月进尺312m,最高日进尺40.5m,取得了很好的施工效果。但是全断面掘进机作业线投资偏高,对隧道围岂地质和断面适应性差,影响了其使用的广泛推广。臂式掘进机是一种部分断面掘进机,其截割臂可以上下、左右自由摆动,能切割任意型状的隧道断面。臂式掘进机集开挖、装碴和自动行走于一身,进退自如,操作灵活,对复杂地质适应性强,便于支护,可以适应中、软岩隧道不同的施工方法,因此是中小型中、软岩隧道的理想开挖工具。
