Last month the IEA updated its 2013 call for carbon capture and storage (CCS) operations, in which the International Energy Agency describes carbon capture and storage as “a key element in limiting climate change.” The International Energy Agency’s Juho Lipponen made the statement “that carbon capture and storage of fossil fuels is especially important in a world where there is currently no indication that it will reduce its fossil fuel consumption.” As the global economy shifts to a sustainable low-carbon economy, CCS will play a unique role in the power and industrial arena.
