Recently,cesium atomic fountain frequency standard uncertainties have been achieved to the order of 10-16.[1] A movable-cavity cold atom space clock has been proposed.[2] Furthermore,optical frequency standards based on a single ion and cold atoms have approached the 10-18 level.[3] However,most of t hem are running in scientific laboratories and require professional scientific researchers for maintenance.Compact microwave atomic beam frequency standards can run steadily for time keeping due to their care-free,small size,and reasonable price,such as the Agilent 5071 A.They have a high accuracy and good long-term stability.An optical pumping and optical detection cesium beam clock is another type of atomic clock which has a better short and medium term frequency stability.Comparing these two kinds of cesium beam clocks,there are no special reasons why the same technical arrangement could not be applied to rubidium beam clocks.
