北京晚报的副刊,是一个文艺性的綜合副刊,叫“五色土”(北京中山公园有个社稷坛,土呈五色,叫五色土,这是“五色土”的由來)。副刊取这样一个名字,一方面是勉励我們自己要随时注意副刊的地方特点,而更重要的是想督促我們自己要經常注意副刊的多样性。因为我們觉得,在加强政治性、思想性的前提下,丰富多样,生动活泼,是晚报副刊的重要特色之一。但是,多样性必須有中心。我們采用多种多样的形式,目的正是为了更好地为中心任务服务,为了突出中心。因此,我們說,晚报副刊的特点之一是杂——多样性;但是必須“杂而有章”,而不能杂而无章。那末,这个“章”是什么呢?也就是說,晚报副刊的中心任务是什么呢?我們觉得,作为一个文艺性的綜合副刊,它的中心任务应該是:貫彻和体現毛澤东的文艺方針,反映我們时代日新月异的面貌。
The supplement to the Beijing Evening News is a literary comprehensive supplement called “Five-colored Soil” (there is a small altar in Zhongshan Park, Beijing. The soil is colored in five colors, which is the origin of “colored soil.”) Supplements such a name, on the one hand, encourages us to keep track of the local characteristics of the supplement and, more importantly, to urge ourselves to keep our regular attention to the diversity of supplements. Because we think that under the premise of strengthening political and ideological nature, being rich and diverse, lively and vivid, it is one of the important features of the evening supplement. However, diversity must have a center. We use a variety of forms, the purpose is to better serve the central task, in order to highlight the center. We therefore say that one of the hallmarks of evening paper supplements is miscellaneous-diversity; but it must be “miscellaneous and chaptered,” not miscellaneous. So what is the “chapter”? In other words, what is the central task of the evening paper supplement? We think that as a comprehensive literary supplement, its central task should be: to implement and reflect Mao Zedong’s literary and art policy , Reflecting the rapid changes of our times.
