Hydrazide derivatives are developed in recent years, the photometric determination of vanadium reagents. Recently, the literature proposes the photometric determination of vanadium using the simple hydrazide derivative benzoic acid hydrazide. The pentavalent vanadyl ion (VO ~ (3+)) forms the binary complex VOBPO_4 ~ + (B stands for benzoic acid hydrazide C_6H_5CO NH NH_2) with benzoic acid hydrazide in the presence of phosphoric acid. The maximum absorption peak of this ternary complex is at 410 nm with a molar extinction coefficient of 5.5 × 10 -3. In addition to preserving the excellent selectivity of the hydrazide to vanadium, benzoic acid hydrazide is particularly preferred for its ability to develop color in aqueous solution.
