(March 2014) With the consent of the Central Propaganda Department and the approval of the State Council, the Fifth China Local History Council Steering Group was formed in December 2013, with me as head of the group and Comrade Li Peilin as deputy head of the group. On December 20, 2013, the first meeting of the fifth session of China’s Gazetteer Steering Group was held, in which the Fifth National Conference on Local History Work was held in mid to late April 2014 to study the important issues currently facing local chronicles work and to deploy future work. Both Comrade Perlin and I are new recruits to the work of local history. In early March, we moved to Beijing
