20世纪的中国文学,“主题”是个十分关键的名词,主题选择与时代关系联系紧密。如五四“文学革命”强调的是“启蒙”与“救亡”的时代主题,17年强调的是“光明”、“歌颂”的主题,新时期初的“伤痕”、“反思”和“改革”强调的是重大的政治反思或经济主题。新时期市井小说则突破了这类宏大主题的限制,开始从市民的日常生活出发,写风俗民情,写人情人性,文学关注的中心从权力政治话语转向普通人的日常生活,并开始探求其中包含的文化和人生的意义,本文旨在探讨新时期市井小说的文化主题和文化视角。
