在新疆库车、拜城、新和等县境内,遗存着不少龟兹古国人民信奉佛教而开凿的千佛洞.其中规模较大、具有代表性的,为克孜尔、克孜尔尕哈、森姆塞木和库木吐拉四处.这些建于约公元三至十一世纪的千佛洞,已伴随龟兹佛教的泯灭而成为历史的陈迹,虽然多年来遭到自然和人为的破坏,其艺术的主体塑像多已损毁,但是仍有数量相当可观的壁画被保存下来.

In Kuqa, Baicheng, Xinhe and other counties in Xinjiang, there are still many Thousand-Buddha Caves cut by Buddhism in the ancient people of the Qiuci Autonomous Prefecture, of which the large and representative are Kizil, Kizil Ga Ha, Semim Seok and Kunmulla, all of which were built around the 3rd and 11th centuries into the history of the Thousand-Buddha Caves with the disappearance of the Qizi Buddhism. Although they were natural and man-made for many years Destroyed, the main statues of the arts were mostly damaged, but a considerable number of murals were still preserved.
