著名报刊活动家邵飘萍和他的《京报》是大家所熟知的,但有一位对《京报》的创办和发展作出杰出贡献的人却很少有人知道,那就是邵飘萍的挚友和助手吴定九。 吴定九,名鼎,字定九,江苏嘉定县外岗镇人,生于1890年2月18日(正月廿九日)。少时在家读私塾,做木工,后考取上海南洋公学。求学期间品学兼优,毕业时被学校推荐,由江苏省行政公署教育司派赴日本留学,在名古屋工业专门学校学习土木工程。1915年4月入学,1918年3月毕业。留学期间,吴定九惜时如金、勤奋好学、成绩极为优异。此时,他结识了来日本自费留学、在东京政法学校攻读的邵飘萍,二人一见如故成为密友。邵飘萍于1916年春应上海新闻界友人电邀急欲归国,一时为经济拮据所困,正是吴定九为其筹措路费得以成行的。
