One of the characteristics of the modern high-tech local war is the contest between detection technology and stealth technology. The Gulf War shows that the tank battle has shown a completely new form. Offensive and defensive confrontation has been the traditional fire and armor protection competition extends to detection. The decisive advantage is that the enemy tanks are first discovered and hit first at almost any time. In order to deal with detection, the primary problem in improving the survivability of future main battle tanks is to avoid being discovered. Therefore, stealth technology is increasingly valued. As one general in the United States put it, having a stealthy weapon for all services could be as important as having a nuclear capability in the 1950s. Therefore, with the rapid development of high-tech, stealth tanks have become the goal that various military great powers in the world are committed to developing. Although stealthy tanks are to be put into operation after 2000, the European and American countries, relying on their strong technological superiority and the Gulf War, have all learned from the experience of the F-117 stealth aircraft and stepping up experiments in tank stealth technology from stealth materials and overall design the study.
