壶口瀑布位于黄河中游晋秦峡谷中,我是从陕西省的宜川县去到壶口观瀑的。征壶口的黄河西岸,建有观瀑亭,从上可看到滔滔的黄河水从上游奔来,那黄褐色的波涛河面足有500米宽,它奔流到壶口附近,河床坡度突然加陡,先是在宽阔的河床上一排排地涌来,势如千军万马,互相挤着、撞着、推推搡搡,前呼后拥,撞向石壁,滔滔黄浪霎时碎成堆堆白雷。当河水正这般欢畅地驰骋时,突然脚下出现一条40多米宽的深沟,大水就象是被一个无形的大洞吸着,顿然扭成一束,便一齐跌了进去。先跌在石上,翻身再跌下去,三跌、四跌,沟底正飞转着一个个旋涡,一川大水硬是被跌得粉碎,跌落到“壶口”内去了。黄河奔流千里而来,这每秒近千立方米的水量一下收束跌落,形成了瀑布。因此壶口瀑布不是从高处落下、让人仰视垂空的水幕,而是由平地向更低的沟里跌去,
