The latest report from market research firm iSuppli shows that in the first quarter of this year, nearly 60% of China’s semiconductor manufacturing capacity was idle. In the first quarter, China’s semiconductor manufacturing capacity utilization rate dropped to 43%, down sharply from 92% in the second quarter of 2004. iSuppli expects China’s semiconductor manufacturing capacity will moderate growth this year, the fourth quarter also increased to only 54%.
