Platelet-activating factor, the ether (paf), is an effective inflammatory mediator that can cause severe disease in multiple organs, including intestinal necrosis and gastrointestinal ulcers. Recent studies have shown that E. coli can produce paf, the paper studied the Helicobacter pylori (HP) can produce in vitro paf. Mucosa specimens were taken from the lesser curvature side of the antrum of 5 patients with duodenal ulcer accompanied by gastric mucosal hyperemia, for histological examination, bacterial culture (5 in all), and paf determination.
