英语事件名词作为名词的一个重要子类,在研究中并未得到足够的重视。本文以体验哲学和认知语言学为视角,探究事件名词的语义特征及其形成的理据。研究表明,英语事件名词彰显两个语义特征:数量性和有界性,这两个特征及原生动词到事件名词的类转都是人们体验心智和认知的外在化表现。
English incident nouns as an important sub-category of nouns in the study did not get enough attention. In this paper, experiential philosophy and cognitive linguistics as a perspective, to explore the semantic features of event nouns and the justification for their formation. The research shows that English event nouns demonstrate two semantic features: quantitativeness and boundedness. These two features, as well as the class transfer from native verbs to event nouns, are extrinsic manifestations of people’s experience of mind and cognition.
