黄秋葵属锦葵科,是一种营养价值极高的保健蔬菜。嫩果含有能增强人体耐力的糖聚合体,同时还含有丰富的维生素A、B、矿物质、蛋白质等,还有帮助消化,保护肠胃和肝脏的作用,又能起到治疗胃炎,胃溃疡的效果。另外,老种子可榨油,含油量在16.9％以上,可作工业用油或食用油,成熟的种子粉碎后还可作类似咖啡的钦料。
