Following the elimination of methyl bromide, scientists are continually exploring effective and environmentally friendly pest control methods for vegetable crop production. In non-chemical alternatives, anaerobic soil disinfection (ASD) is considered as one of the most effective methods to kill soil-borne fungi and bacterial plant diseases, and has the effects of pest control, disease prevention and weeding control. A study on the impact of ASD on tomato production systems in the field was published at Hort Science in June. Experiments were conducted in the field to compare the effects of ASD and soil chemical fumigation (CSF) on weevil nematode control and its impact on tomato yield and quality. The test sites were southwestern (Imegli) and northern Florida (Sitra) with conventional CSF treatment
