According to the “International Competitiveness Report” released each year by the Lausanne International Management Development Institute, the international competitiveness of our country is showing a declining trend year by year. In 1999, out of the 47 participating countries, China ranked 29th for its international competitiveness and 25th for its competitiveness in science and technology. By 2000, the two indicators were reduced to 31st and 28th respectively. Among them, among the two technical indicators that can best measure the competitiveness of the country, the degree of availability of qualified engineers ranks the first to the bottom; the availability of qualified information technology personnel ranks second from the bottom. In the current fierce market competition, our country’s international competitiveness is gradually declining, which is worth noting.
