本文力图克服以知、情、意三分法研究问题所产生的弊病,从人类总体、社会历史、个人心理的有机结合和主体与客体的完整统一中讨论文学批评意识的内在机制及其同社会的批评交际活动的关系。作者认为文学批评是内在于感性的理性活动,包容着非理性与超理性,是由象征的领悟与印象,无言观照与完满意象,自觉认识与逻辑意象所组成的动态系统。这三大形态互相衔接又彼此渗透,在各自内在与相互间的冲突中必然地变化发展,组成了螺旋向前的无限循环往复的系统,规定着文学批评永无止境的特点。在社会历史的制约和它自己内在矛盾的推动下,文学批评意识经过历史化与逻辑化的过程,意向文学批评的客观对象,由此个人的批评积淀、巩固、呈现于社会的文学批评史中,获得客观性与历史内容。
