In theory, a completely uniform distribution of radionuclides and fill media can be used as the best calibration source for calibrating a segmented gamma-scan (SGS) device. However, it is very difficult to prepare a completely uniform distribution of waste drums with solid filler as the actual preparation process. In order to reduce the uncertainty of measuring the activity of the waste drum prepared by the shell source method, the waste drum filled with the radioactive aqueous solution is proposed to be installed on the SGS device
