《围城》和《幸运的吉姆》都享有极高声誉,两书的主人公方鸿渐和吉姆有不少相似的经历,都曾被寄予厚望而结局非常尴尬,都曾执教大学,都曾在事业上处处碰壁,在爱情上孤独彷徨。他们一样伶仃,却是不一样的围城。两者“围城”差异性的形成包含多种原因:二战前的绝望和二战后的希望的差异性、中英文化的差异性、主人公人物性格的差异性,作者通过对主人公人物形象的比较来分析两种“围城”的差异性。
