在我区河池、百色两地区农村,玉米是一种主粮。群众有用玉米泡水后磨粉,做汤园吃的习惯。磨制的玉米粉,往往由于一次未能吃完,而将剩余湿粉晾干存放供随时食用。这种玉米粉存放数日,特别是在阴暖天气,很容易发霉。人吃了霉玉米粉可引起严重的中毒。近几年来,在巴马、都安、那坡等地先后发生吃霉糯玉米中毒共4次,计38人,死亡17人;每次病死率,最低为23.8%,最高达100%。
