ATM 尽管性能优异,并且是面向连接的技术,但由于价格等因素,向来被人们认为是网络贵族,通常都用于 WAN 或局域网主干中。记得两年前,我听说有一家外国公司竟然从网络主干到桌面全部采用的是 ATM,当时惊讶得大张着嘴半天合不拢。后来一打听,方知这家公司做的业务不仅数据量大且多是实时的视频传输,并且该公司非常有钱还舍得花钱。现在我要说的仍然是 ATM 技术,历经两年的发展,不仅其技术进一步成熟,价格已经大幅度下降,可以说,ATM 到桌面离我们已经不再是要不可及的了!
