康日新一直有“中国核掌门”之称,是中国“头号央企”中国核工业集团公司(简称“中核集团”)党组书记、总经理,也是136家中央企业的“一把手”中,唯一一位中共十七届中央委员,同时还有着中央委员和中纪委委员的身份。他领导下的中核集团有“头号央企”的美誉,在国资委中央企业名录中排第一位。这位昔日中国的核工业巨子、中国核工业的原掌门人,以其落马前10年的显赫身份引人注目,也为落马的省部级高官名单增添了一笔。
