In the past year, a great deal of technical improvements have been made to commercial low-power confinement CO 2 lasers. This means that their merchandise sales will be significantly improved. Sealed CO 2 lasers based on DC excitation tubes and DC or HF excitation waveguides are useful. It has been used in surgery, scientific research, industrial cutting; marking and welding, remote sensing and other fields. These lasers work in the 10.6μm infrared region. For some special applications, raster tuning can be done at some discrete transition frequencies in the 9-11 μm range. Waveguide lasers made of ceramic are inherently bulky
