该书是在1965年中国工业出版社出版的《材料化学分析方法(修订版)》一书的基础上编写的。全书共分三分册:第一分册的内容为钢铁及铁合金的分析方法;第二分册为有色金属及合金的分析方法:第三分册为金属中气体、夹杂物和相分析。新版所介绍的方法主要是该研究所多年的研究成果和部分经过验证的国内外的好经验,颇具特色:而且在新版中对方法的基本原理及操作的注意点有较详细的阐述,对分析工作者在应用有关方法时很有帮助.
