初次见到方子云的人,印象中除了厚道、谦恭之外,怎么也看不出他有什么特别之处,怎么也想象不出,他曾在国际上获得许多特殊的荣誉:英国剑桥国际传记中心授予他“有杰出成就的世界名人”称号,并将他列入《世界名人传记辞典》。国际水资源协会授予他“卓越会员”、“优秀会员”、“卓越的特别会员”等称号。国际水资源协会主席称赞他:“您是一位杰出的中国水资源保护大师!”享誉布宜诺斯艾利斯1982年9月6日,中国第一次派代表团前往阿根廷首都布宜诺斯艾利斯,参加国际水资源协会举办的第四届世界水资源大会。方子云参加了这次大会。
