研究弘一法师的老一辈专家有叶圣陶、丰子凯、夏丐尊、朱光潜等人,他们均已辞世,而陈祥耀可算是我国老一辈研究弘一法师中唯一健在者。年青时,他与弘一法师结识、交往三年,即开始写有关弘一法师的记述文章;法师圆寂后,他又写纪念文章、诗作和论文;2003年,他应中央电视台“走遍中国”栏目之约,赴北京作介绍弘一法师的专题讲话。可谓著作等身,硕果累累。
