离婚正在改变着美国儿童的生活。在二战后的那代人中,80%以上的儿童都是在父母双亲的身边长大的。而如今,能在父母双亲身边长大的儿童仅只有其一半。每年,美国有100万名儿童因父母离婚而家庭解体,非婚生子的数量也大体如此。同时,由家庭解体而造成的社会问题层出不穷,尽管政府对儿童福利的支出在不断增长,但是,儿童整体的生活水平却在下降。青少年的自杀率已增加了两倍,少年犯罪与暴行也在逐年增多。学校职能明显减弱。
Divorce is changing the lives of American children. Of the generation after World War II, more than 80% of the children grew up beside their parents. Today, only half as many children grow up as parents. Each year, over one million children in the United States have their families divorced because of divorce by their parents, and the number of illegitimate children is also roughly the same. At the same time, the social problems caused by the disintegration of families are endless and despite the government spending on child welfare is increasing, the overall standard of living of children is declining. Adolescent suicide rates have tripled and juvenile crime and atrocity have also increased year by year. School functions have obviously weakened.
