新近我看到一本实用定量分析化学,是孙锡洪同志编,开明书店出版的。这本书的内容,我不想去说说它,一般说适合具有一定普通化学基础,刚刚学习分析化学的人参考阅读。可是它在语法修辞上却错误百出,不仅文字不通,甚至于令人难以猜度它的意思。尤其是一本‘入门’的书,初学的人怎么看的懂; 下面是我随手摘出的几个例子; 页1‘化学实验开明未知的化学现象为其本来动向,但为初学化学的人伴加讲义的,叫做讲义实验,又为实验操作的训练就适当的既知事项直接实习者,亦叫化学实验’。作者第一句话的意思大约是说,‘化学实验的目的,本来是为了探求未知的化学现象’,所以下文接着说:而为了练习操作将已知事项来进行演习,也叫化学实验。在这里,他用了令人不懂的‘开明’二字,又错用了‘动向’二字。动向本是说事物发展演变的方向,但如果说化学实验的‘发展方向’是探求未知,不但与事实不合,且与下文不连贯。

Here, he used the incomprehensible “enlightened” word, and the wrong use of ’moving’ word.
