1996年1月13日15时40分,玉门石油管理局炼油化工总厂聚丙烯车间聚合装置聚合楼一楼内发生着火爆炸事故,造成聚合厂房大部分门窗被损坏,部分墙皮脱落,管架上的丙烯投料管线(Dg65,长14m)、闪蒸置换用氮气管线(Dg40,长5m)被烧断,两条冷却水管线局部变形,11种规格的34根计4775m电缆局部烧坏报废,聚合系统大部分一次仪表及辅助设施被烧毁;3名职工面部及双手轻度烧伤,1名职工在处理事故当中左
