In recent years, the application of PET resin in packaging has exploded, and PET resin was in short supply last year. The main reason is the replacement value of PET, including the replacement of glass bottles, aluminum cans and other flexible films. Because PET is considered a “green” resin and recyclable, it makes PET a source of fanatical interest in PET. Packaging authorities predict that PET resin production will increase by 12% annually over the next five years, while PET prices will decline in the short term. PET was first discovered by DuPont’s William H. Carousel. PET was first successfully applied to packaging in 1956. Between 1959 and 1970, PET was mainly used in the thermoforming packaging of bacon. By the seventies, the bacon thermoformed wrapper was replaced by nylon, which in turn tended to blow the soft drink bottle instead of the glass bottle. At present, PET resin has penetrated the entire North American market. In Europe, PET applications are also rapidly growing, mainly for soft drinks and bottled water, replacing the previous glass bottles and PVC bottles. The next major target market for PET bottles will be the single-serving bottle at the supermarket, a 12-inch soft drink bottle. The label on the PET bottle is a heat shrink sleeve film that will be printed and enveloped using automated machinery, with the fastest speeds exceeding 600 bottles per minute. Currently, the newly introduced resins are Poly-ethylene Naphthalene-PEN and PET / PEN
