People often confuse comparative sentences and metaphorical sentences together. For example, 1 “The snow-capped mountains sent on the way to the surface immediately make you feel cool like autumn.” (High School Chinese Vol.2, volume 2, p. 267, “Thinking and Practice” 4.1) The unified textbooks use this sentence as a metaphor; 2 “Summer mountaineering, drilling into the deep caverns, a cold spell struck, and the heat of the body was suddenly consumed. It immediately made you feel like a cool autumn. (High School Chinese Book 2 “Teaching Reference Book”, 190 pages of the first question) This textbook published by the People’s Education Press uses both 1 and 2 as metaphorical sentences. Actually, 1 and 2 are not metaphors, but are comparative sentences.
