This paper defines a complete set of imaging index-based coarse aggregate shape index, that is flatness and needle flake ratio, angularity index and surface texture index, and discusses their effect on the permanent deformation of hot mix asphalt mixture The influence of mechanical behavior. The coarse aggregate was subjected to image analysis and 18 samples of Superpave hot mix asphalt were prepared (using on-site blending of 10 state highway bureaus) to test their permanent deformation under high temperature conditions. Through the correlation analysis between the measured permanent deformation data and the shape index of the coarse aggregate, it can be seen that there is a good correlation between the permanent deformation and the surface texture index. Because of the low content of flat and needle-shaped particles in the mixture, the effect of flat shape and needle-like shape on permanent deformation is not obvious. Angular index and surface texture index have a greater impact on permanent deformation. The concept of particle geometry interference is proposed to explain the influence of coarse aggregate shape on the stability and permanent deformation behavior of asphalt mixture.
