“悲剧性”与“喜剧性”是中国传统音乐中两种相对的审美风格。悲的性状可分为悲壮、悲愤、悲痛、悲凉、悲伤、悲切等等,其中悲壮、悲愤、悲痛与壮美有程度不同的相似,而悲凉、悲伤、悲切等又相对远离壮美,其审美的效果也有很大不同,能鲜明地表现人的现实生活,具有强烈的主体情感体验特征。中国传统音乐中喜剧性的作品也十分丰富,有“寓谏于乐”的宫廷滑稽戏,也有插科打诨,取悦观众的民间戏曲,更有风趣幽默的歌曲器乐,中国老百姓乐于观看令他们快活愉悦的作品。这两种风格既对立又互补,给人以丰富的审美感受。人的情感是非常复杂的动态系统,喜、怒、哀、乐可以在音乐的时间过程中得到动态的反映,大型音乐作品在运动中表现人类丰富的情感变化,表现出不同审美风格的相互渗透。
