As a traditional Chinese social group culture model, Praying for Rain is a solemn ceremony for people to communicate with God. In China’s agricultural-oriented society, the status can be described as very important. In the summer of 1873, drought-stricken natural disasters hit Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, and a series of activities were held around the prayers from the official to the public. Under the conflict and integration of Chinese and Western cultures, although these rituals still follow the old law, there is no shortage of behaviors that challenge the traditional authorities and, to some extent, modernize the activities of prayer for rain.
