Since the Middle Ages, Czechoslovakia has been mining tin and has experienced two periods of prosperity and decline. Currently, some tin mines in the Czech Republic are recovering despite the plunge in tin prices around the world, and the tinnit at Tinunum is a prime example. By the early 1970s tin mining in the area was low. However, the price of tin soared in the 1970s and it was decided to re-open the pit. After eight years of hard work, all the restoration work has been completed and the whole system has been adjusted. Now it is ready for operation. The original rail mining system has been transformed into a trackless mining system and a scraper is used to mine. Downhole diesel vehicles repair room is about to be completed. Ramp has been dug well. The entire renovation project cost 90 million US dollars. With an annual output of 25 to 300,000 tons of ore.
