In literature, some experiments of the interaction of a singly ionized ion with clean metallic surfaces were related to electron and visible light emission.[1-4] Previously these studies did not observe visible light emitted from neutralization of the incoming ions. This is because the interaction of singly ionized ions with a clean metallic surface is Auger neutralization and there is little probability of excited state atoms being formed from incident ions.More recently there has been a great interest in visible light emission in the interaction of highly charged ions with metallic surfaces.Research of the interaction of slow highly charged ions with a solid surface is mainly focused on electron and x-ray emitting of hollow atoms formed during the interaction;very few studies on visible light emission exist for highly charged ions colliding with the solid surface. In this work,we measure light emissions of the interaction of slow highly charged ions of Kr17+ with an Al surface;the experimental results indicate that interaction of highly charged ions incident upon an Al surface not only causes visible light emission of the sputtered Al species, but also emits Kr I and Kr Ⅱ visible light for Kr17+.We report the experimental results on visible light emission of the sputtered Al Ⅰ,Kr Ⅰ and Kr Ⅱ of neutralization of Kr17+ ions on an Al surface.
