报紙每天反映着各項实际工作,给广大人民群众看。从事不同工作的人們,往往是“隔行如隔山”。冶金部門的同志不了解电力部門的具体业务;而电力部門的同志,也不了解冶金部門的具体业务。报紙不同于专业杂志。只办給少数內行人看。它必須使人們能够普遍地看得懂,吸引人們去看,哪怕是一条工业消息,也要使一个农业工作人員发生兴趣。有人批評那种过于专門的消息說:“內行人不願看,外行人看不懂。”这可算是一針見血之言。何以見得?因为过于专門,外行人看不懂;但是,这种“过于专門”只是相对地讲的,并非完全专門、真正专門,所以內行人又不願看了。这就是两头不討好。

People engaged in different jobs, often “interlaced as every other mountain.” Comrades in the metallurgical sector did not understand the specific business of the power sector; comrades in the power sector did not understand the specific business of the metallurgical sector. Newspapers are different from professional magazines. Only for a small number of experts to see. It must make it universally understandable and appealing to people, even if it is an industrial message, to make an agricultural worker interested. Some people criticize the kind of over-specific news, said: “Insiders do not want to see, layman can not read.” This can be regarded as a sharp statement. Why do we see it? Because they are too specialized, they can not understand it. However, this kind of “over-specialization” is only relatively speaking. It is not entirely specialized and really specialized. Therefore, the layman is unwilling to read it. This is two pleasing.
